A class of thing now rarely seen. Everybody is buying those high rise contraptions, but not our hero here. (S)he has a new and shiny Opel Astra estate instead. Can’t remember the last time I saw a recent one. Doesn’t seem enormously practical it must be said as I’m guessing
it’s the same length as the hatch.

Do those use the Cruze motors?

Wait, how could it be more practical? I don’t really see any wasted room. Seems like a sensible compact wagon. A little bland looking but at least they got it in bright red.

The wagon looks to be 332mm longer and have 170 liters more of cargo space behind the rear seats. I can’t seem to find numbers for the hatchback with the seats down, but the wagon looks to have 1,630 liters of space in total.

I know nothing of the Cruze but the current lineup here is a GM E-Turbo
1.2
triple and 1.5 diesel triple (source unknown). Previously various GM engines were used.
PSA have been removing GM bits since the takeover and the GM manual boxes have also have been replaced by their own while the (few) automatics get a ZF nine speed.

Well, it could be longer! It doesn’t look much longer than the hatch though I’m told above there’s an extra 300mm odd in it.

There is the Insigna Tourer that is bigger (~5m long) so there is no reason to make it too big.
And it’s already quite long, i didn’t expect to be that long (4.7m compared to the 4.37m of the hatch), so it’s as long as a current A4 Avant.

It isn’t as good looking as a Sportwagen though. Just seems rather unexciting but very practical. Someone out there doesn’t care about appearances and when that happens you end up with this.
Kinda like there are at least a half dozen maniacs out there who bought Ford C M axes in the US that aren't Uber drivers. Not sure why, bit people bought them. Shoulda bought a Mazda5.

A few of the people in the Europpo WhatsApp group have made mention of you and, what with Oppo going down the shitter and whatnot, we wondered if you wanted to join us? It’s a no stress group, some people talk a lot, some people don’t, mine stays on mute... if you’re up for it you can email europpomeet@gmail.com with your number and we’ll upload you to the mainframe
